May 2, 2024: The National Magazine Awards nominations have been announced! Sasha’s feature for Cottage Life, “In Search of Life Below,” has been nominated in three categories: One-of-A-Kind Storytelling (always a favourite category), Service and congratulations to Meegan Lim for a nomination in Best Illustration.
May 1, 2024: May 1, 2024: SHADOWLAND opens at the Evergreen Brick Works. Sasha’s first solo show! The installation combines 12 images from Sasha’s larger SHADOWLAND project with a new soundscape and text that immerses and implicates viewers in Toronto’s fragile ravine landscape. Set within the historic kilns at the Evergreen Brick Works, SHADOWLAND is part of the CONTACT Photography Festival, which runs from May 1 to May 31. March 7, 2024: Keep an eye out for this image from Sasha’s WHAT THE RIVER CARRIES project at Gallery 44’s upcoming Salon 44. In 2023, Sasha spent a month photographing the Tiber River as a way of interrogating Rome’s imperial legacy in the Western world—and considering the question of what it means to live downstream from Rome. Opening reception March 7 at 7 pm. The annual fundraising exhibition runs until March 16 and represents the best in Canadian photography, featuring a mix of established and emerging photographers.
