BOSTON, 2015–2016

Maybe because I myself was in the midst of my own transformation—breaking out of an old world and making my way in a new one—I found my eye drawn especially to scenes of construction while I was in Boston. I was looking for the “destruction” within the construction and also thinking about how the way we see things is necessarily limited to fragments; what in those fragments might gesture to something more whole? The images are as much about what I choose to leave out as what I choose to show. It was a dream to work with a medium format film camera. I still miss it!
